Remember the ads? “we’re all delighted to eat United” and later “we’re all delighted new extra time United”

The product was a chocolate covered candy crisp biscuit, wrapped in a blue and silver striped foil wrapper. Later in it’s life it was offered in orange flavour. The biscuit became one of the early products to offer larger sized versions with it’s Extra Time United.

Summary

United Biscuits appeared around the late1970’s and disappeared in the late 1980’s.

The biscuits were made by McVities, but United Biscuits were much more than a brand of biscuit.

United Biscuits was actually a huge British conglomerate who owned many of the leading brands of biscuits.

McVities themselves were originally known as McVitie & Price. Then, in 1948 they merged with another Scottish family business: MacFarlane Lang to form United Biscuits who now owned all brands made by both companies.

Where Did They Go?

Whilst the biscuits may have been discontinued in the late 1980’s the company United Biscuits lives on now part of the Pladis group who’s head office is in London and own many of the brands we love today.
