Not to to be confused with the former Building Society of the same name.
Summary
Formed in 1833 National and Provincial Bank was originally considered as one of the “big five” banks in Britain and had it’s head office in London.
During the 19th and 20th centuries it underwent a massive expansion taking over a number of smaller banks.
Where Did They Go?
The National and Provincial Bank name disappeared from the high street in 1970 when it merged into the National Westminister Bank (Nat-West).
The bank continued to exist, in name only, as a dormant non-trading company until 2016 when it was voluntarily struck off the register and dissolved.
